Hi, everyone. Great news ~ the weekend is almost here! And this week we're starting a brand new blog hop, Christian Fiction Fridays, where Christian authors will post short snippets of their current Works in Progress. The talented Hallee Bridgeman is joining me as a host. If you are a Christian fiction author, I really hope you join in! (And if you're a reader, be sure to check out what others are working on these days. You never know, you might just discover a new favorite author!)
The idea is simple. Every Friday, post a short snippet on your blog from whatever project you're working on. Then link up here and see what others have written.
Since today is February 6, I am including a few paragraphs from page 6 of my current project, Unplanned.
“When your family left for China, you were just a little thing.” Carl held his hand at the level of his waist. “Now look at you. All grown up, off on your own.”
Kennedy laughed. On her own meant she lived in a dorm with a theater-major roommate, whose entire education – from what Kennedy could tell at least – consisted of playing computer games, attending rehearsals, and reading an occasional play. Kennedy, on the other hand, was so busy with her pre-med studies and literature classes that she hadn’t yet experienced any of the so-called “freedoms” that were supposed to come with college life.
Carl gave her a quick tour of the new pregnancy center, which in reality was only slightly larger than Kennedy’s dorm room. There was a main waiting area still wanting furniture, a back office, and a single room tucked in the back corner. “Here’s where we do the counseling sessions, and that door there opens to a little bathroom stall.”
“It’s really nice,” Kennedy stated automatically, while her head threatened to lift right off her shoulders because of the fumes.
Carl’s cheeks widened into one of his wide, chipmunk-style grins. “Wait until you see what Sandy rigged up for us.”
Random Fact: I started volunteering at a pregnancy center just a few weeks after I got married.
