It’s time for another scene straight from the morgue file! Don’t worry, it’s not nearly as macabre as it sounds. The morgue file is where I keep deleted scenes that didn’t make it from the first draft to the finished product.
This scene is from the story that is currently kicking me in the pants. I mean ... the story that I'm currently working on.
In the end, she didn’t necessarily call me out on my lies, but she sat there with this half-sour expression, like she was Miss Rachel Lynde, the tolerably well-meaning town gossip from Anne of Green Gables, and I couldn’t stand that level of scrutiny. She doesn’t know what I’ve been through. She has no idea what I’ve had to endure. But at the end of our session, she said something like, “You know, I can see there’s a lot to sort out here, so I’d like you to start meeting with me every other day. How’s that sound to you?”
And I told her exactly how that sounded to me.
I don’t think she appreciated it.
So here I am. Like I said, I wasn’t technically thrown out, but I can read well enough between the lines to know when I’ve overstayed my welcome.
Story of my life.

By the way, if you are on Facebook and haven’t heard about our rocking monthly chat parties, our next event is coming up the afternoon of March 23. I’ll be giving away a kindle as well as a paperback set of all the Kennedy Stern novels to date! RSVP here so you don’t forget.
