Happy Christian Fiction Friday, everyone! I hope you're all having a great week and enjoying the spring. We are loving the outside time, the parks and playgrounds, and the extra daylight we've been getting. Since this is the fifth month of the year, here are five paragraphs from my Agent Ko story.
Ko knew from the gentle knocking that it wasn’t Mama. Not this time. She took a few tentative steps and crossed her room, which was far too large for one child to keep all to herself. Foreboding sank deep down into her chest cavity as she opened the door.
He made a small noise in the back of his throat and stared at Ko’s bed. His right forearm still drooped awkwardly sometimes after his fishing accident. With his good hand he fidgeted with his eyeglasses, a potent symbol of power and prestige. How many Pyongyang citizens could afford the services of an eye doctor? Papa squinted and sat down on the edge of her mattress, lowering his frame gingerly, almost apologetically. He cleared his throat. Once. Twice.
Was something wrong? Was Papa dying? She scrutinized his hands. Slightly wrinkled. Sun blotches on the backs, a hint at his former life as a simple fisherman. His fingers fidgeted in his lap but didn’t tremble.

Random Fact: I have one good eye and one really bad eye, so when I wore contacts, I only had to wear it in my left eye.
