I've been working on a project that's pretty drastically different from my normal Christian suspense titles, and even though I'm a little gun-shy about releasing full details, I do want to tell you I've got something new I'm trying and I really hope you enjoy it when it comes out!
Since this is a new feel for me, it's a little more slow going. In fact, last week I realized about twenty chapters in that I needed to do a complete revamp. I used about 15% of what I'd already written and the rest landed in my morgue file - that little file in my computer where deleted scenes go to die.
For fun, today I'm including an excerpt from my morgue file, and even though you won't ever read this scene in any of my books (as far as I know!), make sure you're signed up for my newsletter so you'll be one of the first to hear when this project is finally released!
I thought the counselor would be all right. I’d talked with her once before during my initial intake. She didn’t come out right then and say she doubted my story, but I could tell she wasn’t someone I wanted poking around too thoroughly into my personal history, so for the past month I’d tried to avoid her as much as possible. Well, today it was either sit with her or join the cry session downstairs, so I took my chances and went into her office. She’s one of those feminist, new-agey types. You know, painted portraits of uteri, amulets all over. I don’t trust anybody whose shelves are full of trinkets instead of actual books.
So what do you think? Care to guess the genre or the setting here? Any attempts to figure out what will happen next? Also, don't forget to sign up for my newsletter where you can request a free novel of your choice!
